Runiva: Run & Walk · Last updated November 1, 2026
Runiva is a social running and walking app. To use it, you create an account by signing in with Apple, Google, or email. Runiva records your GPS location only while you are recording a run or walk — never in the background of your daily life. Every new activity is private by default, and activities or records you make public never include your exact route coordinates. Runiva shows no ads, uses no crash-reporting SDKs, and does not track you across other companies' apps or sell your data. We use Google Analytics for Firebase only to understand, in aggregate, how the app is used. You can delete your account and its data at any time, directly in the app.
An account is required to use Runiva. When you sign in with Apple, Google, or email, we receive from your chosen provider your name, email address, and profile photo (if the provider shares one). You can optionally add a username, display name, bio, home city, and links to your public social media profiles.
Profile photo. You can optionally add a profile photo, chosen by you from your photo library. Runiva crops and scales it down on your device and stores it with your account. It is shown only to you and to runners who follow you; anyone else sees your initials. Before your followers can see a new photo, it is checked automatically for explicit or violent content (see Third-Party Services), and a photo that does not pass is deleted. To prevent abuse, up to three new photos can be checked in any 24 hours; for this we keep the times of your most recent checks, without the photos. You can remove your photo at any time in Edit Profile.
During setup, we ask for your date of birth to confirm that you are at least 13 years old and, for runners aged 13–17, to apply extra safety protections (see Children & Teens). It is stored with your account so these checks stay consistent across your devices, and you can view or update it in Edit Profile. Your date of birth is kept private, is used for nothing else, and is never shown on or copied to your public profile.
You can optionally provide your gender, height, weight, running goal, and experience level. Height and weight can be imported from Apple Health — but only when you tap the import button. Your weight is used to estimate calories burned, and these values help tailor training feedback.
Every new activity is private by default. Activities, records, and Echoes that you choose to make public contain your results (distance, duration, pace, elevation) but never your exact route coordinates.
Runiva stores your workout metrics — distance, duration, pace, splits, elevation, estimated energy burn, and personal records. If you allow it in Apple Health, Runiva can also write your completed running workouts to Apple Health, and can read your height and weight only when you explicitly import them.
Importing past runs. If you choose to import runs from Apple Health, Runiva reads your running workouts from the last 12 months, with their date, duration, distance, and GPS route, and saves each one as a private run in your history (and in your account, if you are signed in). Workouts Runiva itself saved to Apple Health are skipped. Imported runs are never published unless you make one public, and they are deleted with the run or your account. Runiva reads them only when you start an import.
If you allow it, Runiva reads your heart rate from Apple Health while you record a run and stores a heart rate summary with that run (average and maximum heart rate, and time spent in each heart rate zone). This summary is part of your private run, is never included in public runs, and is deleted with the run or your account. To calculate your heart rate zones, Runiva reads your date of birth from Apple Health; it is used only on your device and is not uploaded.
Apple Watch. If you record a run with the Runiva app on Apple Watch, the watch, with your permission, reads your heart rate, walking and running distance, active energy, and your date of birth (used only on the watch, for heart rate zones) while the workout is recording, and saves the workout, its distance, energy, and GPS route to Apple Health. While the run is in progress, the watch and your iPhone exchange its live status (time, distance, pace, heart rate, and pause or finish controls) directly over Apple's WatchConnectivity and HealthKit. When the run ends, it is transferred to your iPhone and saved to your account like any other run, with the same heart rate summary described above.
Data Runiva reads from Apple Health (HealthKit) is used only to provide Runiva's fitness features. It is never used for advertising, marketing, or data mining, is never sold, and is never shared with third parties. It is not stored in iCloud.
Content you create in the app — shared runs, Echoes (run challenges you publish), comments, kudos, follows, club memberships, and challenge results — is stored so the social features work, and is visible to other runners only according to your privacy choices for each item.
You can optionally track your gear, such as shoes or a watch: its name, brand, model, type, and the distance and runs logged with it. You can also add a photo of a pair of shoes, which is stored with your account and visible only to you. Gear is private to your account and is shown to others only on a gear card you choose to share.
If you report a runner or a piece of content, we store the report (the reason, the reported account and content, and a short excerpt of the reported text) and send it by email to our moderation inbox so it can be reviewed within 24 hours. If you block a runner, we store that block so it can be enforced on our servers. To keep the community safe, text you write (such as names, usernames, bios, comments, and Echo messages) is checked on your device against a list of objectionable words before it is published.
To deliver push notifications (for example, when someone follows you, joins your club, or beats your Echo), we store your device's push notification token (from Apple Push Notification service or Firebase Cloud Messaging), your platform, and your language.
Usage analytics. We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand, in aggregate, how Runiva is used. It records which screens are opened and a few product events: signing up (with the goal and how you heard about Runiva), starting and finishing a run (with its mode, distance, and duration), sharing, viewing and completing a purchase of Runiva Pro, joining a club, following a runner, and creating an Echo. Firebase assigns a random app-instance identifier and derives an approximate region from your connection. We do not attach your account ID, name, email address, route, or any Apple Health data (including heart rate) to these events.
Runiva includes no crash-reporting SDK and does not use your advertising identifier, and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Runiva Pro is an optional subscription. Purchases are processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play; payment details are handled entirely by those stores and never reach us. We receive your subscription status through our subscription provider, RevenueCat, so the app knows which features are unlocked. RevenueCat receives your Runiva account ID, your purchase and receipt history, and basic device information to do this.
Runiva does not request access to your camera, microphone, or contacts.
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or selling, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Data leaves your account only as follows:
Runiva relies on a small set of services, each used for a specific purpose:
Runiva contains no advertising networks and no tracking or crash-reporting SDKs. Apart from Google Analytics for Firebase described above, no other analytics SDK is included. Apple's and Google's operating systems may collect their own diagnostic data under their respective privacy policies.
Your account data is stored in Google Cloud (Firestore) in the europe-west1 (Belgium) region, where most of our server functions also run. Your profile and shoe photos are stored in Cloud Storage for Firebase in Google Cloud's us-east1 (South Carolina, United States) region, and the functions that check profile photos and revoke Sign in with Apple run in the us-central1 (Iowa, United States) region. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections, and security rules ensure that private data (your runs, settings, and personal details) is readable only by you within the app; other users cannot see it. Content you explicitly make public is readable by other signed-in users. Runiva staff do not browse your private data. Access is limited to a small number of authorized personnel and occurs only when needed to operate the service (for example, automated server functions that process your runs), to respond to a support request you make, to investigate abuse or security issues, or to comply with legal obligations. Run and workout history is also kept on your device for offline use and fast display. The run stats shown in Runiva's Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, Live Activities, and Apple Watch complications are stored only on your devices, in a container shared by the Runiva app and its extensions.
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in Runiva under Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, runs, Echoes, public records, attempts, comments, kudos, follows, gear, clubs you own and your club memberships, club events you created and your event responses, reports you made, runners you blocked, notifications, push tokens, and your profile and shoe photos. If you signed in with Apple, we also revoke Runiva's Sign in with Apple access. Three exceptions: finished live challenges you completed against another runner may be retained as part of that opponent's own history, without your route data; report emails already delivered to our moderation inbox are kept as long as needed to resolve the report and protect other users; and the times of your last profile photo checks (at most three timestamps, with no photo or other content) may remain on our servers. Usage analytics events are not linked to your account and expire on Google's servers after the retention period we set. Uninstalling the app removes all data stored on your device.
Runiva is not directed at children under 13. During setup, users enter their date of birth, and anyone under 13 cannot complete setup or use the app. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it. Parents or guardians who believe a child has created an account can contact us and we will remove it.
Runners aged 13–17 get extra protections: they cannot make themselves visible in Nearby discovery, and live challenges are limited to runners they follow and who follow them back. Our servers read a teen's private date of birth only to decline challenge requests from people they do not know.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law (such as access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data). We will honor these requests to the extent applicable.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will revise the date at the top of this page. Please review this page periodically.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how Runiva handles your data, you can reach us at business@ketcapp.com.
